In the current situation of efficient operation but information explosion and hustle and bustle in modern society, people often yearn to break free from the constraints of busy life and pursue integration with nature. So, some architects began to think about what new architectural possibilities would arise when buildings break away from crowded cities, come to sparsely populated places, and come to the most secluded corners of the world? Can the question of where and how we should live be redefined?

We will approach these architects' conceptual ideas through several case studies with our reflections on these issues.

Saya Park is located in the forest of Gyeongsangdo, South Korea, and stands in a natural environment like a unified concrete sculpture.

Alvaro Siza collaborated with Carlos Castanheira to design and construct this complex of three individual blocks, namely the Art Pavilion, chapel, and observatory.

The small church is directly located on a slope, facing east, welcoming the first rays of sunshine every day. Its design follows the original concept, creating a space that showcases' inner beauty and introspection '. The observation deck is not yet completed and will be built on a small hillside to overlook the deep valley landscape.

New Zealand North Piha Surfing Rescue Tower

The Te Pae, designed by Cross Architects, is a rescue tower located on North Piha Beach, one of New Zealand's most beautiful and dangerous surfing beaches, as an important facility for observing, patrolling, and protecting surfers.

Piha is Te Kawerau ā  A part of the territory of Maki (indigenous tribe of Maori), which they named Te Pae, meaning "to perch" - a place where one can sit, observe, and admire. Architects have also meaningfully incorporated this narrative into the concept of life towers.

The Te Pae, designed by Cross Architects, is a rescue tower located on North Piha Beach, one of New Zealand's most beautiful and dangerous surfing beaches, as an important facility for observing, patrolling, and protecting surfers.

The Qammat Fjeld Pavilion, built by Konstantin Ikonomidis, is a public installation made of translucent glass bricks, located between two fjords in Sarfannguit, Greenland, inspired by the rich local culture and indigenous history.
